Course Background
This is a specialist vocational programme with a strong work related
emphasis. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the
key concepts and practical skills required in the sector with national
recognition by employers allowing progression directly into
employment or to a degree.
What will you study
Modules will include: Business Environment, Human Resource
Management, Employment Law, Organisations & Behaviour,
Managing Financial Resources and Marketing. Assessment is
through practical tasks and assignments.
Entry Requirements
You will normally need to have at least one of the following:
- a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in an appropriate area
- an AVCE/GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area
- a GCE A Level profile which demonstrates strong performance in
a relevant subject or an adequate performance in more than
one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE
grades at level A-C
- other related Level 3 qualifications
- an Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an
approved further education institution
- related work experience.
Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement
that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or
unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications
in their work sector. Fees payable each year of this 2/3-year course.
Teaching and Learning
Its blended learning approach is based on a mix of classroom,
work-based learning and workshops.
Progression
It is expected that learners from this course will be suitably
prepared for entry to employment within the business environment.
Alternatively learners may choose to progress on to a Business
Degree programme at university. Completion of this course
normally allows progression on to year 2 of a degree programme.

No formal education requirements so suitable for practising and
potential first-line managers.

The Award teaches you a range of problem solving & decision making
techniques, which helps support you in your management role.
