A-Levels
Students can choose from a wide variety of subjects, including all or any of the following:

AS/A2 Accounting

Entry requirements
5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above, including Mathematics

Course Content
Accounting is about how businesses record, track and predict how they are performing financially. You will therefore study how an accounting
system works; preparing financial documents such as profit and loss accounts; analysing accounts; assessing business performance;
how to budget for the future; stock valuation; costing and how to decide if an investment is worthwhile

Extra activities
This course links well with many higher business or professional courses

Progression
It is useful for students wishing to study accounting at a higher level but also for many higher business or professional courses.


AS/A2 Business

Entry requirements
5 GCSE’s at grade C or above, including English or Mathematics

Course Content
You will look at how businesses are set up, develop and grow. As well as studying entrepreneurship and setting up your own business you will examine marketing your goods and services to customers; analysing the finances of a business; recruiting and developing staff; producing goods/services efficiently and how the economy and other factors have an impact upon the success and survival of a business.

Extra activities
External speakers; visits to Cadbury World; Jaguar Cars; intensive revision days

Progression
Many degree courses today include some business studies because it will be of assistance to graduates in their future careers.


AS/A2 Economics

Entry requirements
5 GCSE’s at grade C or above, including Mathematics at grade B
and English Language at Grade C.

Course Content
Economists attempt to predict future economic trends, to analyse the relative merits of different types of market and to advise governments
and international bodies about the likely effects of their economic policies upon individuals, industries and whole economies.
You will look at how markets operate and why they fail; how the government intervenes; the national and international economy; European economics; and the UK labour economy.

Progression
This is excellent preparation for a degree in Economics/Business
Studies , or for anyone considering a career within the business world.


AS /A2 Law

Entry requirements
5 GCSE’s at grade C or above, including English or Mathematics

Course Content
You will gain a wide overview of the English legal system including civil and criminal processes; domestic and European law; trial by jury; magistrates and judges; solicitors and barristers; police powers and sentencing; and contract law.

Extra activities
You will have the opportunity to visit a magistrates and a crown court and there is an optional yearly conference in London.

Progession
Many students progress to studying law at university whilst the analytical skills you develop are useful for studying a wide range of degree courses.
