Career Academies UK...
You're the BOSS!

“Being part of the Career Academy programme has been an amazing,
life changing experience. I had a mentor from the Bank of England
and did my placement at Citigroup. It’s pushed me beyond what I
thought were my capabilities and given me far more choice about my
future. I have offers to go to university but I’m also considering going
directly into employment using some of the contacts I made through
the Career Academy.”

Filton College is affiliated to a national movement of employers, schools and colleges, working to raise the aspirations of 16 to 19-year-olds. The Career Academies model is revolutionising partnerships between employers and teachers, transforming young lives along the way. Level three students doing three A levels with a heavy emphasis on Business eg A level Business with Economics, Law, ICT, Accounting or the BTEC National Award in Personal and Business Finance or students studying a BTEC National Diploma in Business or Business (Marketing) are eligible to apply for the Career Academy programme. It will involve opportunities to meet with Guru Lecturers, have a Partner in Business (mentor), take part in relevant visits/ seminars and earn a paid internship at the end of year 12.
All Career Academies UK students studying with us will benefit
from having a leading Partner in Business. Internships will be
for six weeks between year 1 and 2 and eligible students will
receive a fully paid salary for their efforts! Courses will include
annual visits to a diverse range of companies and organisations.
It isn’t easy, and we’ll never tell you otherwise. But worthwhile?
You bet it is. Hundreds of young people, teachers and
employee volunteers tell us so. We don’t only open doors.
We give you the key. The Career Academy model (above
opposite) ensures that there is a consistent approach for
Career Academies across the UK. Yet, the model is deliberately
flexible enough to enable us to respond to the particular
needs of the local community.
